FDA Age Restrictions for Breast Implants
One of the only age restrictions that exist is the FDA's recommendation for the use of breast implants. Saline breast implants are recommended for women ages 18 and older. Silicone breast implants, on the other hand, are recommended for women ages 22 and older. Otherwise, women of any age can have the procedure, if their health allows them to be candidates for surgery.
Popular Ages for Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedure in the United States, according to statistics released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). According to the ASPS, it is also among the most popular procedures for every age group of women below age 55. However, most breast augmentation procedures are performed for women in their 20s and 30s. These two age groups account for nearly two-thirds of all breast augmentations. But women aged 40-54 still represent a significant portion (28%) of all breast augmentation surgeries, and thousands of women 55 and over have breast augmentation every year.
